Sandton City Johannesburg South Africa

Sandton City is Africa’s most prestigious shopping center offering an unparalleled retail experience that combines the world’s most desirable brands with everyday leisure and entertainment. One of the largest open public spaces in the country, Nelson Mandela Square adjoins the renowned Sandton City complex. In 2011 MK Illumination took particular delight in creating the ideal concept to compliment the brand identity of these two Shopping Centres. For the festive season, Sandton City, together with Nelson Mandela Square, are rolling out an impressive decorative lighting concept. As a beacon to all, the Sandton Tower is draped with cascading lights on all the vertical columns, while stars and flashes decorate the horizontal beams. Inside Sandton city, the treasure-trove of shopping delights are mirrored in the clusters of golden objects that festoon the ceilings of the walkways. By taking the African theme to the next level and initiating the campaign to raise awareness for this seriously endangered Rhinoceros, the MK Rhino will be at the heart of the fundraising campaign.

In 2010 already MK Illumination successfully launched the impressive Baobab Tree on Nelson Mandela Square. This installation captured the spirit of this unforgettable giant of the bush and represents a truly African Christmas.
