Christmas Market in St. Johann im Pongau

Alpine Christmas Wonderland

Traditional customs and modern sounds, artistic performances, and advent lights right up to the top of the mountain transformed the alpine town of St. Johann im Pongau into a real “Christmas Wonderland”.  Markus Rosskopf, Manager of EZ Werbegemeinschaft in cooperation with the local municipality and the tourism association, said: “Just like we remember from our childhood.”

The display allowed St. Johann to stand out from other typical advent markets. The town’s historical buildings offered the ideal space for the “Light Advent” that took as its theme of Christmas as the original celebration of the ‘return of light’ after the winter equinox. They were also a charming match with MK Illumination’s modern light techniques. Residents and retail both embraced the concept, which extended to Christmas trees on the surrounding farms and all kinds of Christmas trees in and around the town.
