If you visit Zürich’s main train station over the festive season, you’re in for a treat:  Europe’s largest chandelier ripples with light and color, a visual experience that’s difficult to match.

Weighing in at approximately 1.8 metric tonnes, 25,000 LED light points send showers of light down hundreds of hanging strands. Each of the LED-lights can be individually controlled, and rather than restricting the control of lighting colors and effect to staff, Zürich HB turned the chandelier into an interactive experience for visitors, who can choose chandelier’s colors and effects using a display with touch-screen functionality.

The chandelier, which was designed by Aroma AG and produced by MK Illumination Switzerland, is incredibly popular and was the winner of a prestigious Xaver Award in 2018.
