City 2

City 2 is a large shopping mall and outlet center that offers so much more than simply shopping. Aside from their vast selection and opportunities to take a break at the many restaurants and cafes, the mall offers a number of attractions for families and children, like trampolining in the summer months and ice skating in their indoor ice rink in the winter.

Over the 2018/2019 winter period, the center wanted to do something a bit different in their ice rink to make it stand out from other rinks in the region. MK Illumination Denmark created a show-stopping highlight for the ice rink: a light sculpture of a winter tree surrounded by smaller “ice trees” and ice bears was installed in the center of the rink. The light sculpture featured hundreds of light points that changed colour, bathing the rink in ripples of rainbow light, which made skating all the more fun for visitors.

The winter installation was surrounded by a wooden fence, which also turned the display into a support aid for new skaters and into a popular spot for friends to stop and catch their breath.
