Visitors to Mechelen in February were surprised to see what appeared to be Christmas lighting adorning the streets and square. In fact, Mechelen had chosen to transform their Christmas lighting into lighting to celebrate the festivity of Valentine’s Day, exchanging Christmas trees for hearts and other love-inspired motifs.
