Saks 5th Avenue: Once Upon a Holiday 2017

The 2017 edition of the Saks Holiday Light Show was bigger and better than ever – with a new song, new programming, more lighting, multi-channel audio, and increased visuals that transformed the façade of the iconic Fifth Avenue Flagship store into “Once Upon a Holiday”.  Among the most beloved holiday displays in New York, this cutting edge sound and light show enchanted millions of viewers in person and garnered countless hits on social media. 

This extraordinary presentation featured 354,819 individually controlled points of light; 13,943 ft / 4250 meters of garland; 5042 sq ft / 1536 sq meters of foliage; and an incredible 309,200 crystals presenting 6,949,029 facets!

This year’s unforgettable light show took over 12,000 hours to produce and more than 250 people – internationally and domestically – were involved in its creation.  

Planning for the exterior began 12 months in advance, and it took 7 nights a week for 7 full weeks to install the display.

American Christmas by MK Illumination worked with Chris Werner Design, a Los Angeles based design firm with a focus on lighting and media for entertainment and architectural projects, to deliver this light-filled experience.
