Moscow Metropolis
Moscow’s METROPOLIS shopping center is a large modern space spread over three floors, boasting 250 shops. When they approach MK Illumination Russia ideas about how to turn a trip to the shopping center into an unforgettable festive experience, the result exceeded all expectations.
Working with the existing lighting on the center’s outdoor façade and balustrades. A one-of-a-kind, custom-designed chandelier was installed in the central atrium, creating a true “wow” effect thanks to more than 90 glittering orbital balls filled with light that hung at different intervals from 35 strands. Each ball was individually programmable, thanks to the use of RGB technology, and the team in Russia pre-programmed the chandelier to change color throughout the day.
A similar chandelier (with 67 orbital balls) was placed inside the entrance atrium.
Additional features included illuminated star motifs, three 3-meter crystalline stags, 10-meter shooting stars, a 12-meter giant Christmas tree with custom-designed mirror-decorations, and over 2 kilometers of Ice lite that added a warm glow to the corridors and galleries.
Outdoors an abstract Christmas tree made of varying sizes of illuminated balls of light and 3D light sculptures of a mother bear and her cub became popular photo opportunities, resulting in lots of online buzz and media engagement.
