Wild about lights this Christmas
Are you wild about festive lighting? If the answer is yes, then you’ll want to visit ZSL London Zoo and Copenhagen Zoo this season. Both zoos have used festive lighting to illuminate their spaces after dark, resulting in enchanting after-dark experiences for visitors of all ages.
Christmas at ZSL London Zoo
ZSL London Zoo has created a one-mile (1.6 km) trail through the zoo, filled with twinkling lights and larger-than-life light art. Visitors can follow an illuminated pathway to discover this historic site, its iconic buildings, and unexpected 3D light sculptures of wild animals.
The zoo’s seasonal sparkle was produced by creative project & production management company, Culture Creative, using hand-crafted animal light sculptures, 2D motifs and a selection of string and drape lights from MK Illumination UK.

Christmas at Copenhagen Zoo
Copenhagen Zoo combines traditional Danish “hygge” with a nostalgic Christmas feel this year, and of course, lights are a must when the days are short! Many historical buildings throughout the zoo have been clothed in festive light, as have a number of the animal enclosures, and the iconic ZOO tower has been transformed into a light-filled beacon that will function as the park’s Christmas tree this year.
Visitors can wander the space and enjoy fun activities organized by the zoo, as well as encounters with large woodland animal light sculptures, like foxes and deer.
MK Illumination Denmark worked closely with Copenhagen Zoo to create this magical Christmas experience, and by all accounts, it’s a huge hit with visitors of all ages.
The lights and activities will continue until the end of the year, so now is the time to visit.
