Since 2014, MK Illumination has been the lighting contractor and creative partner for Granville Island’s seasonal lighting program, helping transform the waterfront destination into a festive winter experience with illuminated landmarks, artistic light installations, and holiday-themed displays. Over the years, the program has steadily expanded and become a cherished annual tradition, attracting visitors to explore the island’s public spaces, markets, shops, and cultural venues beneath a warm and welcoming canopy of light.
Through the design, supply, installation, and maintenance of many of the island’s seasonal lighting features, MK Illumination has helped enhance Granville Island’s unique character. Signature elements such as illuminated stars, decorative light canopies, and custom festive displays have become iconic attractions, contributing to Granville Island’s reputation as one of Vancouver’s most beloved holiday destinations.
The Amazing Brentwood Mall
Creating One of Metro Vancouver’s Most Iconic Holiday Displays
Since 2019, MK Illumination has delivered the seasonal lighting program at The Amazing Brentwood, helping establish the destination as one of Metro Vancouver’s most recognizable holiday displays. The installation includes the decoration of trees throughout the property, a striking 30-foot Crystalline Tree in the main foyer, and the dramatic illumination of the 100 foot tower façade with a giant lighted bow and cascading ribbons, creating a festive landmark that welcomes visitors throughout the holiday season.
As part of the Light Up Coal Harbour campaign, MK Illumination has transformed Coal Harbour—Vancouver’s downtown waterfront—through the installation of colour-changing pixel lighting across 168 trees spanning approximately 3 kilometres of the shoreline. The dynamic lighting system creates animated displays and custom colour scenes that enhance the public realm, celebrate special events, and provide a striking visual experience for residents and visitors throughout the year, helping establish Coal Harbour as one of Vancouver’s most distinctive illuminated waterfront destinations.
