We carefully select materials that are built to last and designed with reuse in mind. Our lighting systems are modular and serviceable, making it easier to maintain and extend product life. Many of our products fall under the Organic line, crafted from bio-based and recyclable components that reduce dependence on petroleum-based plastics. Our commitment to high-quality design means fewer replacements, less waste, and more sustainable joy year after year.
Low-Energy, High-Impact Lighting
All of our installations use energy-efficient low-voltage LED systems. These consume significantly less power than traditional lighting while delivering vibrant, long-lasting illumination. Many of our displays also include timers and smart controls to minimise energy use when not in active display hours.
We are also mindful of light pollution and urban biodiversity. Our lighting designs focus on balance—bright enough to inspire, yet sensitive to surrounding environments.
Lighting With Purpose: Research-Backed Impact
In collaboration with the University of Innsbruck, MK Illumination conducted a research study on the social and economic effects of festive lighting in public spaces.
Key findings:
- Visitors stayed longer in well-lit areas
- Local retail and dining saw increased spending
- Perceived safety increased by 14% in illuminated spaces
- Unlit areas were rated 30% less safe
- Risk of assault was perceived 8% lower in lit areas
This research confirms what we’ve always known: lighting transforms cities. It encourages exploration, connection, and a sense of wellbeing.
